In Giethoorn, where the ground is like a sponge, subsidence is a common problem for chalets. Previous solutions, such as concrete slabs and concrete piers, did not provide a lasting solution. But when we discovered screw foundations, everything changed! This innovative foundation method is faster, stronger, and ultimately even cheaper.

The Challenges of Soft Soil in Giethoorn

The unique soil structure in Giethoorn makes it difficult to keep chalets stable. Concrete slabs were a popular choice, but over time, chalets often became tilted due to subsidence. Concrete piers, placed on the subsoil, offered more stability. However, this solution also has its drawbacks:

Damaged tops: When driving concrete piers into the ground, the tops are often damaged. And it is these tops that are essential for placing a chalet.
