The old center of Meppel with characteristic streets, canals and squares is the setting for a pleasant shopping city.The Keijserstroom and the Swaenenborgh offer space for covered shopping arcades. But also special shops can be found in Meppel. Every Friday there is late night shopping until 9 p.m. There are also a number of shopping Sundays per year in Meppel. An up-to-date overview can be found at www.meppel.nl. Every Thursday there is a market on the Kerkplein and the Wheem from 08:00 to 12:30 (from October to March 8:30 to 12:30). Every Saturday there is a market on the Kerkplein from 9 am to 5 pm. Nijeveen and the Meppeler districts Haveltermade, Koedijkslanden and Oosterboer have extensive shopping centers.
